Hello beautiful people reading this blog, its my first one and i am certainly going to introduce myself today for those who are new and for those who know me already to know me better.
it will be bad i guess but next time i will try making it better.
I am George Nderitu commonly known by my artistic name GENDY. I am A Kenyan actor, and a budding film director currently based in Nakuru Kenya. Acting is my passion but i am also a music producer/video director at Gendy studios also located here in Nakuru.
I like making new connections worldwide as the power of networking gives us a state of knowledge of what is happening in and around the globe.
I used to be a scriptwriter back in 2011-16 as i am creative and i have many untapped stories to make Kenyan films for the world to appreciate our culture,
Today i will tell my story about how i started my first film, hope it might inspire someone
I was first introduced to acting by friends in Nyahururu{MY HOME TOWN} when they were shooting a Kikuyu film and i was lucky enough to get an extra role in the film dubbed as MWANA WA NDUMAINI.
Though i was a shy young man, i realized that it was what i wanted to do and since then it became my passion.I guess i was inspired by watching Nigerian movies where i would feel like i was acting Ramsey Nouah who is still my role model to date.I wrote my first movie back in 2010 just after completing my high school,a horror film probably inspired by the Wrong turn movies but unfortunately i never produced it due to some shortcomings here and there.

in 2012, i wrote a script DANGEROUS CONTRACT a story of a greedy politician who would do anything to be on the reign. I had the story and boom i felt like a superstar! i was to star in my first movie but i didn't have people to work with. i called a friend of mine who introduced me to his friends and another boom, i got people to work with! And thats where another challenge came up,yes we have friends but how good are they to deliver whats expected in the film, the common guys form the village didn't know how to speak the english i wanted in the film and if they did, their expressions and delivering was so much affected. We continued to search for atleast what we could start with and yes we set a date after we spoke to friends about getting houses to act in. My uncle gave me his car and that was not a boom this time round it was a boost!
I had only one script with me on my handwritten book, where we would read the lines and act on spot,so challenging it was!i remember shooting one scene of a watchman seeing a dead man and he was unable to express the reaction, we spent more than 30 minutes and eventually he did not deliver.
All in all we managed to produce the film and to my surprise it was out well and people who watched it gave appreciation and that motivated me so much and i felt i was doing the right thing. It was aired at the then Qtv another motivation to me,MAKING A MOVIE AS AN AMATEUR AND GETTING IT ON TV,That was the best point in my life ever, getting myself on tv,Praise be the name of God.
With no experience before i managed to produced my first movie successfully and there i was getting to college to pursue a course in business management and i spent all my time trying to produce a movie. I would find my classmates at the library busy with books, when i was busy thinking film!
Eventually i was the only student from our class who got a distinction when exam came! All the same i realized i was on the wrong career and i wanted to pursue a course in acting but unfortunately in Nakuru i didn't get one so in 2013 i joined MKU for a Journalism course atleast it was mass communication just like the similar way film is.
since then i interacted with others and still did my film stuffs here and there and the biggest challenge was fighting my shyness.
I want to talk to people who wait for opportunities to come to them, you are on the wrong direction.Opportunities are only found not the other way round. You got to wake up from that comfort zone, assemble the little you can and keep on trying until something comes up!Through making my first film, i have met with big people in the film industry,if i didn't take the step i wouldn't be narrating the story today.
My brothers and sisters, time flies like a river flowing down a valley, water passes once and never again will it pass there.Take precaution of time management, we all have a moment we regret not doing or doing something in the past, and now its the time to change and do something you will appreciate in years to come.
In my next blog{that is if you guys like this piece} i am going to narrate who i met a stranger 70 year old man in town and gave me a piece of advice that keeps on ringing in my head always
